With the Supreme court leaning a little bit right and after the announcement of Kennedy's retirement, Trump's new pick has without a shadow of a doubt moved the court to the right. But what does this mean for key issues and the rights of Americans? Now that five out of the nine justices are conservatives the bench could have an effect on how issues like gay rights, privacy, and abortion are ruled on in the future.

So who exactly is Judge Brett Kavanaugh and what can we expect to see from him once he joins the bench? He is a conservative Judge and former aid to President George W. Bush, and has served on the D.C circuit court since 2006, carrying along side him a long record of conservative jurisprudence.
He is known for his work with the counsel that led to former President Clinton's impeachment, but has recently made comments about his regrets regarding his work on the impeachment and that he thinks presidents shouldn't have to face lawsuits until after they are OOO (pretty handy for President Trump).
A former clerk to justice Kennedy, Kavanaugh is adored in conservative legal circles as an originalist, someone who believes that interpretation of the Constitution should be consistent with what was meant by those who drafted and ratified it, much to the likes of Justice Clarence Thomas and former Justice Antonin Scalia.
Kavanaugh was recently in the spotlight for his dissent on a case involving both illegal immigration and abortion, a true double wammy. The majority ruling allowed an undocumented minor to undergo an abortion. In his dissent, he accused the majority of devising "a new right for unlawful immigrant minors in U.S. Government detention to obtain immediate abortion on demand."
Those on the left are having nightmares about the state of American and the slow destruction of human rights across the Globe whilst those on the right are tucked snug in their beds having dreams about potential Supreme Court cases going their way...stay tuned to see how things pan out.
